Trinidad woman dies in Christmas day crash on I-25

HUERFANO COUNTY – The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality, Christmas day on I-25.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 42, in Huerfano County.

According to State Patrol, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on I-25 when it ran off the side of the road and began to rotate. The vehicle then came back on the road and rotated in the opposite direction.

The vehicle then ran off the left side of the road, went airborne, and began to overturn. The pickup finally came to rest on the northbound shoulder of I-25.

State Patrol said the driver, identified as Lynette Reyes of Trinidad, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was improperly wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to State Patrol.
