COLORADO – Thursday is expected to be a record-breaking travel day at many of the nation’s airports, including Denver International Airport.

Many people are headed up to the high country to get some skiing in and I-70 through the mountain corridor is already seeing very heavy traffic on Wednesday. CDOT says last year, more than 34-thousand vehicles passed westbound through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels on the day after Christmas. That trend is expected to continue over the next few days.

Heavier than normal eastbound traffic is expected Saturday and Sunday, as people return from the holiday break.
