LAKE COUNTY – A former undersheriff in Lake County is facing a prison term after being found guilty of attempted aggravated incest and attempted invasion of privacy charges.
49-year old Fernando Mendoza was accused of asking his stepdaughter for sexually explicit pictures when she was in her mid-teens. He also allegedly placed a camera in her room.
Mendoza was convicted on charges of attempted aggravated incest, a class 4 felony, and of misdemeanor attempted invasion of privacy for sexual gratification. He was acquitted on several other charges including embezzlement.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
