PUEBLO – The Pueblo Police Department wants to build a new memorial to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The department said their historian recently found the names of four additional officers who were killed in the line of duty. The officer’s names are on a plaque on the current memorial, but the department said this is a good time to make a new memorial.

Plans for the memorial are still in the works, but the department said they want it to be somewhere near the Justice Center on Main Street.

“This is the ultimate sacrifice that these officers made to protect the citizens of Pueblo and I’m proud that they were willing to make the sacrifice, that they did what they did for the betterment of Pueblo,” said Sgt. Frank Ortega.
