PUEBLO – ‘Tis the season for scammers trying to take advantage of the goodwill in people’s hearts around the holidays.   The Pueblo Police Department is warning people to watch out for one caller claiming to be collecting monetary donations on behalf of the department.

According to reports made to PPD, the caller asks for a $10 donation to help pay for Christmas toys for children in need.  He’s gone by the name of “Allen Harper” and others.

Quick facts: The caller is not with the police department. Pueblo PD does not solicit donations of any kind over the phone and do not endorse anyone claiming to do so on their behalf.

However, if you would like to donate a new, unwrapped toy or book that will be given out to children in need by officers, you can do so in the front lobby of their offices at 200 S. Main St.
