PUEBLO – Pueblo Police officers are being honored in the Home of Heroes.
Monday, the department had its annual awards lunch at Pueblo Community College.
Officers and volunteers were recognized for their efforts to better the community and keep it safe.
The Medal of Valor was given to the officers who were involved in the shooting of Joe Delira-Alires back in January. Delira-Alires fired shots in the air on the east side of Pueblo and then led officers on a chase. When officers stopped him, gunfire was exchanged.
Awards were also given to people who helped in community projects.
