Season of giving

KOAA 5 is excited to help out Kenzi’s Causes by passing out toys and dolls for children in need in southern Colorado.

KOAA 5 is hosting “Dolls for Daughters” and “Toys for Boys” events in Colorado Springs and Pueblo in December. The first event will be held at Safelite Autoglass off of Centennial Blvd. in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Dec. 1. The second event is being held at the Pueblo Convention Center at the Heroes Pavilion on Saturday, Dec. 8.

The organization is planning to provide each child with a new toy, a stocking stuffer, a new book and a new toothbrush kit. Parents who plan on attending will be required to fill out a survey, bring a birth certificate for your child as well as your picture ID. Parents are encouraged to bring a large bag to take toys home.

Both events are first come, first served, and they run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until all the toys are gone.

The toy drives gathered new toys to more than 11,100 children in the Centennial state in 2017, and they’re hoping to beat that total in 2018.  In addition to toys, they also provide toothbrushes, food and other items to needy families. According to Kenzi’s Causes, more than 75 percent of the families served in the toy drive had a household income at or below $20,000 a year.
