Woodland Park Police K9 credited with drug arrest

9-year-old Rico assisted with the discovery of the drugs on Highway 24.

WOODLAND PARK – A man is in jail facing drug charges after Woodland Park Police Corporal Ramirez made what he thought was going to be a routine traffic stop on Highway 24 near Aspen Garden Way on Tuesday.

Rico, one of Woodland Park’s K9’s alerted the officer to possible drugs in the vehicle and after a search, the officer found psilocybin mushrooms, morphine pills, heroin, crack cocaine, 3 ecstasy pills, and a pistol.

Exactly what charges the man faces and his name haven’t been released as of yet.
