EL PASO COUNTY – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said it is not investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy Sunday night as a homicide.

The El Paso County coroner identified the victim of the shooting as 2-year-old Lohki Richard Bloom. Authorities called  it a “tragic death.”

On the night of Bloom’s death, deputies said the boy was shot. The Sheriff’s Office said the official manner of death will be determined by the El Paso County coroner.

A news release from the sheriff’s office released Tuesday morning read, “When deputies arrived on scene they were flagged down by the parents of the two-year-old.  The mother had the child in her arms.”

The first 911 call was made around 5 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Hartford Street, which is near South Academy and I-25.

Bloom later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and there are criminal charges pending in this case. Those charges have not been announced as of Tuesday morning.
