PUEBLO – Pueblo Police said a 19-year-old man was killed during a rollover crash on Pueblo’s east side just after midnight Friday morning.

Police identified the driver killed in the rollover crash as 19-year-old Diego Shai Romero. His 21-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, however, police say he is expected to survive.

Police said Romero lost control of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala near the intersection of Ogden Street and E. 4th Street. Officers said he crashed into a fence and the ended up in the yard of a home in the 1600 block of E. 4th Street.

Police said both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash and Romero was driving on a suspended driver’s license. He was also not wearing a seatbelt, according to Pueblo Police.

Pueblo Police said Romero was the 14th traffic fatality so far this year in Pueblo.
