PUEBLO COUNTY – The Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder Office and the Pueblo County District Attorney are keeping close tabs on record voter registration, specifically looking out for potential voter fraud.

Clerk and Recorder Gilbert Ortiz says more than 100,000 people have already registered to vote this year, likely due to the first election for a mayor of Pueblo in more than a generation.

“I want to make sure that people know that when they are casting their vote that it counts, and the integrity of Colorado’s and Pueblo’s voting system is intact,” said Ortiz during a joint news conference.

In 2016, more than 200,000 people voted. Of that number, about 1,100 ballots were challenged, with only one person facing voter fraud charges as a result.

If you have a suspected case of voter fraud to report, contact your local Clerk and Recorder’s Office. In Pueblo County the mailing address is 215 W. 10th St., Pueblo, CO 81003 or call 719-583-6507.
