COLORADO SPRINGS – It may seem rather silly, but many of us do it. We give our cars or trucks a name. Tuesday just happens to be “National Name Your Car Day.”

Believe it or not, there’s even a national survey on the day. You can find the results here. 2018 National Name Your Car Day Survey

About 42% of us have a name for our vehicles. Women are more likely than men to name them and well over half of the people surveyed personify their vehicles as female. Many people said the car’s personality, make, model and color influenced the chosen name. Another 43% of the people polled said they waited a month to name their cars.

The most popular names are “Betsy” and “Betty” and the roughly a quarter of the vehicles on the road today are silver.

Living in Colorado Springs with the hail that we’ve had, I have named my car. After seriously considering calling it the “Ford Golf Ball,” I’ve appropriately named it “Dimples.”
