Man found dead in pin setting machine at Florence bowling alley

FLORENCE – The owner of a Florence bowling alley was found dead in a pin setting machine Sunday afternoon.

Florence Police officers and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the bowling alley at 108 W. Main Street around 1:20 p.m. Sunday. Police received reports of a person stuck in a machine at the bowling alley.

Upon arrival, officers found a man pinned inside a bowling pin setting machine unconscious and not breathing. Medical personnel confirmed the man was dead on scene.

He was later identified as the owner of the bowling alley, 65-year-old Ector Rodriguez of Penrose. Police said no foul play is suspected, but the incident is being treated as an accident.

This remains an active investigation.
