FREDERICK – Formal charges are expected to be filed against Chris Watts Monday.

Watts, 33, is accused of killing his pregnant wife and two young children last week.

Authorities are also expected to release an affidavit, the document that outlines why investigators think he killed his family and could provide details about what led up to the killings.

The 33-year-old is being held without bond on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with a body.

Autopsies on Watts’ pregnant wife Shanann and his two daughters, Celeste and Bella, were completed last Friday.

Over the weekend, a judge denied a motion by Watts’ lawyer to have an expert on-hand during the autopsies to collect DNA.

An earlier court filing suggests the two children may have been strangled. Their bodies were found in some nearby oil tanks. Their mother was found in a shallow grave.

All three bodies were found on the property of Anadarko Petroleum, a company that employed both Shannan and Chris.
