PUEBLO – An 18-year-old man is in custody after the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said he hit his grandmother with her truck and then stole it.

Deputies began searching for 18-year-old Fabian Quintana after the incident happened Thursday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office said Quintana ran over his 67-year-old grandmother while he was stealing a recently purchased 2007 pick up truck at her home in the 1400 block of 27th Lane Thursday morning.

Deputies said Quintana put the truck into reverse and knocked her down. When he accelerated, he ran her over, causing serious injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital and is being treated for her injuries.

Deputies eventually found the truck and tried to pull him over. That’s when they said Quintana crashed it and backed up toward a deputy before he drove away again.

He was eventually arrested hours later. No details about how he was taken into custody have been released. He was arrested on suspicion of three felony charges as well as a reckless driving charge.
