Where your child can get meals during COVID-19 pandemic

COLORADO SPRINGS — As the COVID-19 continues to spread in Colorado and schools are closed, there are still some school districts that are offering breakfast and lunch to children.

Due to winter weather conditions on Monday, April 13, the following school districts announced they will not be offering meals:

  • District 70
  • District 49 (There will also be no distribution of Chromebooks)
  • District 20 (They will begin distributing two breakfasts and two lunches on Friday, April 17)

News5 is keeping track of what schools districts in southern Colorado are offering meals and updating you whenever there is a schedule change:

District 70 in Pueblo is offering Grab n' Go meals between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Avondale Elementary
  • Vineland Middle
  • Pleasant View
  • Liberty Point Middle
  • Desert Sage
  • Beulah
  • Rye Elementary
  • Craver Middle Schools

The meals will also include breakfast for the following day and they will be distributed at the bus loops. You have to be present at the meal pickup and be 19 years or younger. Parents or guardians can buy a meal bag for $3.

Grab and Go meals will be delivered to these 10 specific off-site locations via School Bus from 11 a.m. to noon. Students must be present in the vehicle in order to receive their meal. Parents or guardians can purchase a meal bag for $3.00. Meals will be distributed from the school bus or van. (Two meals will be served on Thursday, Adult meal cost on Thursday is $6)

  • Applewood Mobile Home Park in Colorado City off Hwy 165
  • Mountain Shadows Mobile Home Park in Beulah
  • Boone Head Start school in Boone
  • Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park off Highway 50/96 near Pueblo Airport
  • NorthPoint Estates Mobile Home Park on Dillon Dr in Pueblo West
  • Saxony Apartment area on Saxony Drive in Pueblo West
  • Stonegate Village Apartments complex on Spaulding Ave in Pueblo West
  • Pueblo West Campground on McCulloch Drive in Pueblo West
  • Joe Martinez Mobile Home Park (Rec Center) in Pueblo West
  • Liberty Point Mobile Home Park at Birch Hills and Tolstoi in Pueblo West

Through at least April 17, Pueblo School District 60 will be giving out meals to students at these locations:

  • Irving Elementary School
  • Risley International School
  • South Park Elementary School
  • Heritage Elementary School
  • Bessemer Elementary School
  • East High School
  • Heaton Middle School
  • Pueblo Academy of Arts

Meals will be distributed Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Each meal will contain one lunch and one breakfast.

Harrison District 2 will give two meals in one bag for those 18 years and younger through March 27 on weekdays only. The distribution hours will be between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Here are the distribution sites:

  • Centennial Elementary School
  • Fox Meadow Middle School
  • Sierra High School

Widefield School District 3 will also provide meals to those 18 years and younger on weekdays through March 27. Bagged meals will include breakfast and lunch. You can pick them up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at these locations:

  • Watson Junior High
  • Sproul Junior High
  • Janitell Junior High

In order to receive a meal, the child must be present.
Academy District 20 is offering "brunch bags" with both breakfast and lunch through March 26. On both Thursdays, March 19 and March 26, 2020, participants may take two meals: one for Thursday AND one for Friday. Pick up times are from 10 to 11:30 a.m:

  • Eagleview Middle School
  • Timberview Middle School
  • Discovery Canyon Campus Middle School
  • Pioneer Elementary School
  • High Plains Elementary School
  • Frontier Elementary School

District 49 will assist families who need meals beginning Tuesday, March 17, at Evans International Elementary School and at the Rocky Mountain Classical Academy charter campus. Drive-thru service is from 11-11:45 a.m. at EIES and from 9-11:30 a.m. at RMCA. All children 18 years and younger will receive breakfast and lunch. The district asks that students be present to receive a meal.

District 38 will begin distributing meals (breakfast and lunch) Mondays through Fridays between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Lewis-Palmer High School and Palmer Lake Elementary School.

Tri-Lakes Cares will continue supporting D38 families with meals provided from D38. Details regarding the additional services available at Tri-Lakes Cares (supplemental groceries, rent/mortgage assistance, utility payments, medical payments, car repairs, etc.) are available here or you can call 719-481-4864.

Falcon District 49:

Rocky Mountain Classical Academy will be service meals from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. each day.

Falcon Elementary is a location offering free meal pickups for students during the suspension of in-school learning and programs. This is happening from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Evans International Elementary School will also offer meals from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. each day.

Odyssey Elementary School from: 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Colorado Springs District 11:
One bagged meal per day will be offered to child up to 18-years-old.
This is happening Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Doherty High School
  • Russell Middle School
  • Mitchell High School
  • Swigert Middle School
  • The RJWAC campus
  • North Middle School
  • Mann Middle School
  • Coronado High School
  • West Elementary School
  • Adams Elementary School

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8
Meals will be offered Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Extra meals will be provided on Fridays. All meals are free for children 18 and under.

  • Aragon Elementary
  • Carson Middle School
  • Mesa Elementary
  • Mountainside Elementary

Cheyenne Mountain School District 12
District 12 will be providing free "grab and go" breakfast and lunch for all kids under 18-years of age. Meals can be picked up Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School. Meals for the weekend will be distributed on Friday.

Manitou Springs School District 14
District 14 is offering breakfast and lunch "grab and go" bags from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:

  • Ute Pass Elementary School
  • Manitou Springs High School

Woodland Park School District RE-2
"Grab and Go" meals will be available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be two meals per container, that day's lunch and the next day's breakfast.

Here are the locations:

  • Gateway Elementary (Bus Loop)
  • Summit Elementary (Student drop-off/pick-up loop)
  • Florissant Grange parking area
