TRINIDAD — News5 and All Things 81082 have confirmed several members of the Trinidad High School volleyball squad and a school basketball team are now under quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test result for a teammate over the weekend.

School board president Dan Ruscitti says he learned of the information today from the Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department following this weekend's notice of a 14-year-old girl testing positive.

As a result, all athletic camps that utilize the gymnasium at the high school are canceled. The gym was already scheduled to undergo renovations.

The student involved will not be identified because of her age and to protect her privacy but the health department is reaching out to people who may have had contact with her.

So far, the school district has not issued a release with further details on the quarantines or precautions being taken at this time.

Trinidad School District 1 plans a hybrid return to class this fall with alternating grades being in the building and completing classwork remotely.
