RYE — The Colorado State Patrol is helping out Pueblo School District 70 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Troopers were out Wednesday at Rye Elementary helping pass out free meals to families who needed them.

With campuses forced to close, districts have had to change their approach to ensure no one goes hungry.

"It's a great feeling knowing that we are giving back. The feeling of community service is something that you just don't see as much as you used to, so it's good to see everybody stepping up in all aspects right now," said Sgt. Tom Taylor

State Patrol said they plan to keep on helping out as the program is going.
