FREMONT COUNTY — The Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment (FCDPHE) announced Tuesday that a COVID-19 outbreak has been confirmed at the Canon Lodge in Canon City.
This is the first confirmed COVID-19 outbreak at a long-term care facility in the county.
According to the department, declaration of an outbreak in this instance means that two cases have been recorded of residents with respiratory illness within a one-week period, with at least one positive test for COVID-19.
The FCDPHE said it is conducting investigations to identify and notify anyone who may have been exposed to confirmed cases of COVID-19 and will continue to protect Fremont County and reduce the spread of the virus.
Canon Lodge is working with state and local health departments to follow outbreak protocol and has implemented appropriate infection control measures, according to the FCDPHE.
