PUEBLO – The Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen is asking for help ahead of the winter.

The group that provides services said it needs clothing, toiletries, canned food, money and volunteers to prepare for the winter months ahead.

“This is so important because we are one of the only non profits in Pueblo that are feeding people we are trying to give them warm clothing with the shelter being closed down, it’s devastating news for our folks.. some of these folks simply won’t make it through the winter months,” said director Helen Benavidez.

If you want to lend a hand to the soup kitchen the building is open Monday through Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. on 7th Street.

The Handweavers Guild of Pueblo dropped off donations on Thursday, including 13 scarves, 10 hats, 12 pairs of socks, 2 belts, 1 bag and 5 towels.

The Handweavers Guild holds an annual sale at the historic Vail Hotel on Grand Ave. This year’s sale runs from October 31st to November 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on most days.
