JAPAN – Almost a week after 5 Marines went down in a KC-130 air tanker after a collision with an F/A-18 Hornet, the Pentagon has declared the crew members dead.

The collision with the jet happened during routine training off the coast of Japan.  The crew members from the fighter were found at sea within 24 hours. There’s been no sign of the air tanker’s crew.

All of the crew based at Iwakuni air station near Hiroshima have not yet been identified. An official release is expected 24 hours after family or next of kin is notified.
