SALIDA – On Sunday, members of the Salida Fire Department and officers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife had to rescue a mule deer buck who got himself into a tight spot.

The buck got himself badly tangled in a rope that was part of Christmas decorations in Holiday Park.

The Salida Fire Department said the rope was cut, but quite a bit remains entangled in the deer’s antlers and will likely remain there until the buck loses his antlers some time in late winter/spring.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife advises that when you hang outdoor Christmas decorations, make sure they are attached tightly and not just draped over shrubs or trees. Doing this could prevent antlered animals from getting tangled in the decorations.
