Red Cross offers online class aimed at preventing overdose deaths

RED CROSS – According to the Red Cross, drug overdose is one of the highest causes of accidental deaths in the United States.

The charitable organization is now offering a class to help people see the signs of overdose and what can be done to temporarily reverse drug effects until help arrives. They say a potential overdose always warrants a 911 call, but knowing what to do can save lives.

“If you have a family member that’s taking opioids, you should consider having Narcan or something similar in your home and the knowledge of how to use it,” said Bill Fortune with the Red Cross.
