Teens arrested in death of 17-year-old, CSPD seeking additional information

COLORADO SPRINGS – Just before 9 p.m. on November 5th, CSPD officer responded to the 4200 block of Deerfield Hills Road on a reported shooting.

CSPD said a male teen was transported from that location to an area hospital where he would later die from his injuries. Four days later, the El Paso County Coroner identified the teen as 17-year-old Luis Starkey of Colorado Springs.

On November 9th, CSPD arrested a 16-year-old male and charged him with First Degree Murder in the death of Starkey. On November 12th, the CSPD Fugitive Unit arrested a 16-year-old female from the same death investigation.

CSPD said its Homicide/Assault Unit is seeking assistance in the death investigation and is requesting that anyone with information about the circumstances of Starkey’s death contact them.

According to CSPD, this is their 30th homicide investigation in 2018. At this time last year, 27 homicides had been investigated.
