BACA COUNTY – Multiple people were transported to a local hospital, three of which were airlifted, in a two-car crash at an intersection in Baca County Friday.

The crash happened around 5:44 p.m. at the uncontrolled intersection of Baca County Road UU and Baca County Road 33. One driver was traveling eastbound on CR UU and hit the driver’s side of a pickup truck traveling northbound on CR 33.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, 70-year-old Marcella Swanson, and the two passengers in that car were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup, 40-year-old Jesse Richardson, and the one passenger in the truck were also transported to a local hospital.

Richardson, 91-year-old Mary Gourley, and 56-year-old Kenneth Weidner were airlifted to Memorial Hospital for serious injuries.

Investigators say drugs, alcohol, and speed are not being considered contributing factors in the crash. This is an ongoing investigation.
