DOUGLAS COUNTY – A softball tournament to honor the losses of three Colorado deputies is underway Sunday.
The softball tournament, also a fundraiser, was held to benefit the wives of each of the slain deputies. A total of 17 teams registered for the tournament, including two teams that traveled out of state from New York and Texas to show their support.

Each law enforcement agency across the state of Colorado felt the tragic losses of Deputies Zackari Parrish of Douglas County, Heath Gumm of Adams County, and Micah Flick of El Paso County. This led to the softball fundraiser event, as each agency realized the need to support one another and the families of the fallen.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says opening ceremonies ended with each widow throwing the first ceremonial pitches. So far, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has won its first game against the Castle Rock Police Department.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office beat the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office 15-11.
