COLORADO SPRINGS- An arrest was made in the killing of a 38-year-old man who was shot in the 2100 block of Roundtop Drive earlier in August.
Officers arrested 31-year-old Davin Carrera of Colorado Springs on a First Degree Murder charge Wednesday afternoon. This was shortly after the coroner’s office released the identity of the man shot and killed.
38-year-old Michael Dewayne Booker of Colorado Springs was found dead outside of a car at 3:30 a.m. on August 16., police said. Officers were responding to a shots fired call and confirmed Booker was dead at the scene.
The death was initially being investigated as suspicious but has since been upgraded to a homicide, according to CSPD. This is the 19th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2018.
At this time last year, that number was at 20. This is an ongoing investigation.
