Roughly ten to fifteen percent of the population is a southpaw and today, we celebrate our left-handed friends!

Being left-handed sometimes comes with challenges, like right-handed school desks, scissors, and even notebooks. Even measuring cups have the measurement lines in place for a right-hander.

It’s been reported through research that lefties are more successful and creative because they have more brain symmetry.

There’s a long list of famous lefties. Among them:

Inventors and scientists-Sir Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and Alan Turing. Philosopher Aristotle, artists Michelangelo, Leonardo de Vinci and Pablo Picasso were all lefties. So was Napoleon Bonaparte and Mahatma Gandhi.

Five of our last eight presidents are left-handed. Those presidents are Obama, Clinton, George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

Make sure to give your left handed friends some love with a proper High Five today.
