The Colorado Springs Police Department says Officer Cem Duzel remains in critical condition from a gunshot wound to the head, yet is now able to take some breaths on his own as he’s being treated at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central.
Officer Duzel was shot on August 2nd while responding to a call about a man with a gun firing shots on Boulder St east of downtown.
Shortly after arriving to the call Duzel was gravely wounded. He was rushed to the nearby Level 1 trauma center for treatment.
Duzel is a five-year veteran of CSPD where he is assigned as a patrol officer for the Sand Creek division.
