Single vehicle rollover leaves one dead in Park County

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle rollover crash that left one person dead and another seriously injured in Park County Saturday.

According to CSP, a 2004 Kia was travelling southbound on Highway 9 in Park County when it went off the right side of the road. The vehicle then skidded broadside and rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

State Patrol said there were two occupants in the vehicle. The driver has been identified as 52-year-old Steven Miller, of Canon City. Miller suffered serious injuries and was transported via helicopter to a Colorado Springs hospital.

The passenger in the vehicle also suffered serious injuries and was transported via helicopter to a Colorado Springs hospital. State Patrol said the passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passengers identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

State Patrol said alcohol and drugs are not considered to be contributing factors in the crash. Both occupants were wearing their seat belts.
