DENVER (AP) – At least one structure was damaged by one of several tornadoes that were reported in the rural eastern plains of Colorado.

Julie Brooks, a spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, tells KUSA-TV in Denver that a twister damaged a roof near Byers on Friday evening. She says it’s unclear if another tornado that touched down in a field in nearby Deer Trail caused any damage.

A third tornado was reported near Ponderosa Park in Elbert County about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Denver.

The National Weather Service issued several severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings Friday evening, and forecasters warned of potential baseball-size hail, wind gusts up to 80 mph (129 kph) and heavy rain.

The storms are expected to develop throughout the night.
