Colorado Springs firefighters are keeping water on an underground gas line ruptured by a lightning strike on Polo Drive.
Crews were called to the rupture around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Colorado Springs Utilities crews are on the way to shut off the gas line.
The firefighters are making sure the surrounding trees are very damp to avoid the fire spreading. While the fire is not too far from a home it is contained. Flames are shooting about 10 feet above ground.
The scene is just south of Cheyenne Blvd west of 7th Street.
