2 firefighters and 1 driver injured after crashing into sinkhole

Two firefighters and another person are in the hospital after a crash at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. A van was swept into a sinkhole near Old Pueblo Rd. and Birdsall. The driver of the van left the scene and minutes later, another car was swept away.When firefighters responded to assist, their truck ended up in the sinkhole, landing on top of the car and trapping a person inside. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital and another person was airlifted to an area hospital. One of the firefighters was ejected from the truck. All three people have serious injuries, but they are expected to recover.Old Pueblo Rd. is closed and there is extensive road damage in the area.
