Lawsuit against University of Colorado officials dismissed

Posted

A federal Judge has dismissed part of a lawsuit by a woman who has accused a former University of Colorado assistant football coach of domestic violence, claiming the head coach and other university officials knew of the abuse and tried to cover it up.

The Daily Camera reports the lawsuit against former coach Joe Tumpkin remains in place, but U.S. District Judge William Martinez dismissed the other defendants, including head coach Mike MacIntyre and athletic director Rick George.

The ruling issued Wednesday states that the university did not owe the woman a legal obligation because she was not affiliated with the school.

University spokesman Ryan Huff says they believe the judge "correctly recognized our employees did not violate the law and that there was no legal basis for the claims against them."
