Aurora Police are investigating an incident involving an Aurora Public School employee who is accused of slapping a student with disabilities.

An attorney representing the Aurora family said a paraprofessional at Altura Elementary slapped the 7-year-old Monday, while the child was attending a summer program at the school.

It is not clear what led to the incident, but the case has been handed over to the District Attorney’s Office.

Police have issued a summons for the employee in question, but no arrests have been made at this time.

Aurora Public Schools said it is investigating the incident and will take appropriate disciplinary action. There is no word yet on what that action would be, or if the employee has been fired.
