The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is back for the 78th time at the Norris-Penrose Event Center this week.
The professional rodeo event brings thousands of people from all over the state to watch 32 champion cowboys and cowgirls compete in seven standard events. The events include bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie-riding roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing.
The rodeo has been a Colorado Springs tradition since 1937. Visitors can enjoy some serious rodeo action and fun for all, while paying tribute to local military and their families, according to the event page.
Evening performances start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Saturday Matinee starts promptly at 12:30 p.m. Grounds open at 4:00 for evening performances. Saturday Matinee, Grounds open at 10:00 a.m. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. for evening performances and 11:00 a.m. for the Saturday Matinee. Our local military are honored at each performance. Hank’s Marketplace will be open Wed, Thurs, Fri 12:00- 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Mutton Bustin’ – July 11-14th, ages 4-9 years old, weighing 50 pounds or less. Prelims start at 4:00 p.m. July 11-14th and 10 a.m. for Saturday matinee. Cost is $10 for prelim rides, $10 to ride again in finals if selected. Click here for the mandatory registration form
Frequently Asked Questions:
Tickets – A printed ticket or ticket on a mobile device can be scanned at the gate. Tickets sold on-site on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visitors who require handicapped seating must purchase tickets at the box office. Golf cart transportation is available if needed, but arrive early to allow more time for entry.
Entry & Parking – Parking is free. The best entrance to use is from 21st Street as 8th Street becomes congested.
ATMs – Can be found on-site.
First Aid – The First Aid office is located on the south side of the arena, just look for the big red cross sign.
No Smoking – Norris-Penrose Event Center is a non-smoking facility. No smoking is allowed within the fenced area, arena, rest rooms, or any other public areas within the fence. There are two designated smoking areas outside the fence – one on the northwest side and one on the southwest side.
Food – Enjoy a delicious BBQ meal including meats, sides, dessert, and drink for only $13/adult and $6.50/child (12 and under). Served in the tent outside the arena with plenty of tables and chairs so you can sit and relax for a bit.
Drinks and Snacks – You may bring unopened plastic bottles of water onto the grounds and into the stadium. No open beverages of any kind will be allowed. No outside snacks are allowed on the grounds nor in the stadium. There are plenty of places to get a bite to eat and something to drink. Vendors and concessions staff are waiting to take your order!
Cameras – No film or video camera equipment is allowed within the gates.
Security – Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo has security at every performance. The Rodeo reserves the right to search any bags of any kind, at any time. Keeping our fans and contestants safe is our top priority. The security staff consists of off-duty police officers, military volunteers, and other highly trained men and women.
