5 Around Town: July 14th and 15th

Here are a few of the events going on Around Town this weekend.

Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo

The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo starts Wednesday and runs through Saturday. The 78th year for the rodeo will include all of your favorite rodeo events at the Norris-Penrose Event Center. There will be multiple opportunities to watch bareback riding, steer wrestling, roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and bullfighting. Tickets will run between $18 and $50 and parking is free. El Paso County Fair

The El Paso County Fair kicks off this weekend and lasts until July 21st. This Saturday is Military Appreciation Day so it’s free for all active duty, veterans, and their dependents. Some of this weekend’s events will include the Grand Opening Ceremony, the Elephant Extravaganza, and the Auto Races. Sunday is Western Hispanic Heritage Day. Featured events will be a huge car show, a community BBQ, and music from the Flying W Wranglers. The fair is open all week long with daily attractions including a carnival, tons of fair food, 4-H and FFA Events, vendors, games, and more. Regular admission is $7 for adults, $3 for kids. Pints For Paws Brewfest

Pints For Paws Brewfest will provide an opportunity to enjoy samples from local breweries while helping out The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. The event will run from 5-7 pm on Saturday on the patio next to Ted’s Montana Grill in the Promenade Shops at Briargate. There will be local beer, wine, and spirits, live music, and food from local restaurants. General admission is $25. $35 will get you VIP entry an hour early. All proceeds benefit The Humane Society. Fitness Festival

If you’re looking for something active to do, check out the Fitness Festival going on in Acacia Park this Saturday. The closing party for Colorado Springs Fitness Week will take over the park from 8 am to noon with local studios teaching pop up classes all morning. Aside from the workouts, there will be food trucks, vendors, and a kid’s yoga area. Everything is free. Check out the class schedule here.
