Wednesday June 27th is Bike to Work Day. Because I didn’t have any equipment to carry with me I couldn’t resist the chance to join in on the fun!
Anytime you ride, it’s important to be safe. Always wear a helmet and clothing that is easy to see even in the dark. If you are riding before sunrise or after sunset, make sure to you have headlight and a flashing tail light to make sure drivers can see you.
We often hear the saying "Share the Road", and it’s important to remember that goes both ways. Yes motorists need to be on the look out for cyclists, but cyclists need to make sure they are riding responsibly on the right hand side of the lane, with the flow of traffic while obeying all the same traffic laws that cars do.
Hardcore cyclists will tell you there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices so make sure you are prepared for what ever mother nature is going to throw at you, from hot temps to wind rain and cold.
Not only is biking a good way to stay healthy, just make sure you stay safe, and you get that exercise while you do it.
