Extra fire danger warnings at Colorado Springs opens space parks

Posted

Parks managers in Colorado Springs want to put emphasis on the fire restriction rules put in place by the city’s Fire Marshal. “The conditions that we’re seeing, the heat, the lack of moisture, the lack of fuel moisture in the vegetation out there, it’s even more important that people abide by those guidelines,” said Colorado Springs Parks, Maintenance Supervisor, Kurt Schroeder.

The goal is protecting public land–especially our open space parks. “They’re truly gems that are so important to our community,” said Schroeder. There is special signage going up at parks and trail heads. The signs printed in red, list in bold letters current restrictions.
