Water starting bubbling up through the cracks on westbound Woodmen Rd. under I-25 at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Those cracks opened up and turned into bigger issues by 3:30 a.m.
Colorado Springs police closed the westbound lanes under the highway, meaning there is no access to southbound I-25. Utilities crews are currently working to fix the broken main, but until then, the westbound side of Woodmen Rd. will remain closed. Early Monday morning, Police said the closure will likely continue through Monday and re-open Tuesday.
If you need to access southbound I-25, you may want to take Academy Blvd. as an alternate route. The ramp from westbound Woodmen to northbound I-25 is unaffected, but delays due to the lane closure may cause extended delays. It’s best to just avoid the area.
