All parties identified in Teller County officer involved shooting

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office has identified the officers involved in an incident on Highway 67 last Sunday in Teller County.

The incident began when Teller County deputies and Cripple Creek Police officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 1200 block of Highway 67 in Teller County. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male who immediately took off in a vehicle.

Police said that after a short chase, the suspect crashed his vehicle at mile marker 51.

According to police, as they approached the suspect, they were "aggressively attacked." Officers fired at least one shot and the suspect was hit. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fifty-two-year-old Jeffery Boyd Bader was identified and charged with attempted murder in the first degree, second degree assault and vehicular eluding.

Deputy Mark Bisset from the Teller County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Heike Karr from the Cripple Creek Police Department received non-life threatening injuries during the physical confrontation. Both officers were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries and have now been released. The officers are expected to make a full recovery.
