Holiday fuel prices are taking a few extra dollars out of your budget right now.

Gas prices across Colorado are rapidly creeping up towards the $3.00 a gallon mark. Average prices from city to city are running anywhere from $2.78 to $2.92 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

Friday marks the start of memorial day weekend and more than 41-and a half million people are expected to take to the roads to travel for the holiday. With the higher gas prices and large numbers of extra people on the roads, do some extra planning and factor in some extra travel time to get to your designation.

There are several places in Colorado Springs that are still selling fuel for $2.66 to $2.78 a gallon, but you may have to do some hunting to find them in your neighborhood.
