One year ago, emergency physician Dr. Larry Cohen began the first-ever Colorado Springs chapter of ‘Walk with a Doc’.
It’s a national program originally started by a cardiologist in Ohio.
Cohen says the inspiration came from his own health battles, and as a physician he wanted to give back to the community by encouraging people to get out and walk and answer any health questions they might have.
A few dozen people join Dr. Cohen every Sunday to go on a walk and get some health advice.
‘It is, it’s very relaxing its fun I mean the first time we did it, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go and when I talk to the people with walk with a doc I said it was more fun than I could’ve imagined,’ said Dr. Cohen.
There are other ‘Walk with a Doc’ groups in Colorado Springs that started up after Cohen’s initial group- including one through Centura Health.
