Spring cleaning is a time for many of us to tackle grime and organize junk, but you might want to look at your digital home, too.

The first step is to clean out clutter.

Ditch any old Facebook groups or pages that are no longer relevant, and snooze or unfollow posts in your newsfeed that you don’t want to see.

With recent controversy over the misuse of personal data on Facebook, it’s a good time to do a privacy and security check-up.

"It’s really important to do a sweep of your security settings, find out what you’ve shared and either delete, change, update, or just manage it all," says tech expert Jennifer Jolly.

Email can also be a big source of digital clutter.

Luckily, Gmail rolled out big changes this week for the first time in a decade, offering shortcuts to help manage inbox overwhelm.

"There’s a feature called "Nudge" that will smartly pick out what’s been the most important email to you and bring it to top of your inbox," said Google’s LaToya Drake.

"Smart Reply" will automatically generate responses to help save time.

There is also a new feature called "Snooze," and a one-tap unsubscribe prompt to help minimize junk mail.

You can activate the new features by going to your settings and selecting "Try the new Gmail."
