A Colorado Springs man is facing charges after firing a gun in his home while police said he was high on prescription pills and withdrawing from alcohol.

This all happened early Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. in the 3900 block of Azalea Street.

Police said 49-year-old Dewayne Bake told arriving officers that he shot someone inside the house who was trying to steal his guns. Officers searched the home and found no evidence that there was anyone inside.

Officers determined Bake was withdrawing from alcohol, was taking prescription drugs and was hallucinating. He did fire a shot into the home ahead of the arrival of police.

He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is facing weapons changes.
