There is a lot of excitement in the ski/snowboard world in the next week. Several ski areas open Saturday: Beaver Creek, Snowmass, and Purgatory.
With the holiday week coming up, Crested Butte opens Wednesday, November 27. Telluride will open Thanksgiving day.
Monarch Mountain has announced it will be opening 7 days a week starting Thanksgiving. If you are thinking of buying an Epic pass, do it by November 24th, which is the last day to purchase.
Friday will be an exceptional powder day for most ski areas, after a slow moving winter storm. Be cautious heading up the mountain early in the morning Friday, as the snow comes to an end and roads remain slick. Friday afternoon will be sunny, but very cold.
Layer up all weekend long, as temperatures stay below freezing. Saturday will be sunny across the high country, but temperatures will be in the teens and 20s.
Sunday will start sunny and cold, then become windy with light snow when you are driving home from the mountains. Be cautious driving this weekend on Friday morning and Sunday evening.
Looking ahead, snow will expand across the mountains and eventually into the front range Monday into Tuesday.
