Today’s Forecast: The weather set up today includes high pressure overhead, helping to increase temperatures. Nearer to the surface, higher moisture content remains in place from Tuesday cold front. These conditions lead to a warm summer day with afternoon thunderstorms. Expect typical timing, popping up in the mountains in the early afternoon, moving east to the I-25 corridor mid afternoon to early evening, then dissipating after sunset in the Plains.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 88; Low - 59. About 10 degrees above average today in Colorado Springs. Thunderstorms are likely in El Paso county from about 3-7 pm. Slow moving storms may lead to localized flooding.

PUEBLO: High - 94; Low - 61. Warm today in Pueblo, to the mid 90s. Thunderstorms are possible from 4-7 pm. Storms will favor areas north of HWY 50 and will be more isolated south of Pueblo. Slow moving storms may lead to localized flooding.

CANON CITY: High - 92; Low - 64. Nice and summer-like today, to the low 90s. Thunderstorms are possible from 1-5 pm. Slow moving storms may lead to localized flooding.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 80; Low - 53. Still warm today to the low 80s in Woodland Park. But rain cooler air will leave this evening feeling nice. Storms are possible starting around noon until the late afternoon. Watch for pockets of heavy rain and lightning.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Expect to be in the low to mid 80s in the Tri-lakes today, with thunderstorms likely. Timing of storms today will be from 2-7 pm. Slow moving storms may lead to localized flooding.

PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. HOT today in the mid to upper 90s. The sky will be mostly sunny. Storms that move east into the Plains this evening will dissipate shortly after sunset.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Warm with sunshine today for Walsenburg and Trinidad. The storm potential is lower in far southern Colorado, with isolated storms possible in the afternoon.

Extended Outlook: Thursday the high pressure will be stronger, leading to hot weather, in the 90s for many. Still some isolated storms are possible tomorrow afternoon. Our next cold front arrives and keeps Friday and the weekend cooler. Better monsoon flow leads to daily storms Friday through Sunday or Monday. The rain rates could be abnormally high this weekend, leading to localized flooding.
