Today’s Forecast: The fuel for thunderstorms will be lower today, with drier northerly winds for the Plains this afternoon. This will leave spotty thunderstorms in the afternoon along and east of I-25. Along I-25, south of HWY 50 has a better chance of rain. The mountains will still see plenty of monsoon steered moisture, prompting numerous early afternoon to evening rain showers. The severe weather threat is low today. Temperatures will be seasonable.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 84; Low - 58. Warm today to the mid 80s, staying mostly sunny. An isolated shower is possible. Winds will be calm to slightly breezy out of the north. This evening will be mostly cloudy.
PUEBLO: High - 91; Low - 62. Hot today, but staying near average to the low 90s. There is a chance for isolated evening thunderstorms, which will more likely stay in western Pueblo county. The evening will be mild with clouds.
CANON CITY: High - 88; Low - 63. Upper 80s today with a sunny start. Scattered thunderstorms are likely in the early afternoon and ending late evening. Watch for heavy rain and lightning.
WOODLAND PARK: High - 75; Low - 50. Nice to start today, peaking in the mid 70s. By lunch time, rain potential increases and continues through the early evening. Watch for lightning and localized heavy rain.
TRI-LAKES: High - 70s; Low - 50s. Today will be a bit cooler, to the upper 70s with sunshine. Northerly winds will downslope off of Monument Hill and that will limit thunderstorms. We will keep an isolated rain mention, with mostly dry weather expected.
PLAINS: High - 80s/90s; Low - 60s. The Arkansas river basin will be in the 90s today, upper 80s elsewhere in the Plains. Beautiful weather today with a much lower severe weather threat. An isolated thunderstorms is possible, but staying hit or miss.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 80s; Low - 50s/60s. The chance for rain will be greatest for Walsenburg and Trinidad today. Watch for evening thunderstorms that can produce heavy rain and lightning. Temperatures will reach the mid 80s before clouds and rain move in.
Extended Outlook: This weekend will be seasonable, with a chance of evening thunderstorms. Again, most of the activity will remain in the mountains. By Sunday, the rain will become a bit more widespread along the front range and into the Plains. Enjoy some outdoor time this weekend!
