Strong cold front arrives tonight: what you need to know

Today’s Forecast: A lovely day is ahead, with temperatures about 5-10 degrees above average. A cold front arrives overnight which brings light snow or freezing drizzle for the Monday morning commute as well as a blast of cold air.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 63; Low: 22. Sunny and mild today. Winds will be light. Winds turn tonight out of the north, gusting to 30 mph through Monday morning. Freezing drizzle and light snow is possible from 2 am to 11 am.

PUEBLO: High: 65; Low: 26. It will be a sunny day, feeling very warm this afternoon. Winds will be gusting to 30 mph by early Monday morning. Freezing drizzle will transition to snow, possible from 4 am to noon.

CANON CITY: High: 64; Low: 29. Warm today with plenty of sunshine. Winds will be light until tonight as they shift to the north and gust to 25 mph. Freezing drizzle will transition to snow, possible from 4 am to noon.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 59; Low: 19. A bit breezy today, with mild temperatures. Strong winds accompany a cold front overnight, leading to frigid wind chills in the single digits Monday. Light snow is possible from 3 am to 10 am.

TRI-LAKES: High: 60s; Low: teens. Low 60s are expected in the Tri-lakes, with sunshine today. Tonight a powerful cold front arrives after 8 pm. Strong winds accompany a cold front overnight, leading to frigid wind chills in the single digits Monday. Freezing drizzle transitioning to light snow is possible from 2 am to 11 am.

PLAINS: High: 60s; Low: 20s. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 60s today with sunshine and light winds. Winds turn tonight out of the north, gusting to 30 mph through Monday morning. Freezing drizzle and light snow is possible from 2 am to noon, moving from north to south.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 60s; Low: 20s. Walsenburg and Trinidad will be in the low 60s today with sunshine. Strong winds accompany a cold front overnight, leading to frigid wind chills in the teens Monday. Freezing drizzle transitioning to light snow is possible from 5 am to noon.

Extended Outlook: The sky clears up Monday night, and temperatures plummet by sunrise Tuesday to the teens for many. Then temperatures rebound very quickly, to the 50s and 60s for the rest of the week. A few weak cold fronts keep temperatures near average into the beginning of next weekend.
