COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Thursday, Meteorologist Alan Rose visited Ms. Michener and Ms. Herdershot's 3rd grade classes at Columbia Elementary School to talk about severe weather and how to be Storm Safe.

They went through the types of weather that impacts Southern Colorado, including tornadoes, thunderstorms, winter weather and dangerous floods. A highlight of the talk was a weather experiment using a hair dryer and ping pong balls, demonstrating the way hail forms in thunderstorms. There was even time for Mr. Rose to answer questions from the eager students.
